Harris Corporation

Power Systems Analyst (promoted to Senior PSA)

Evaluated customer requirements submitted by utility companies in order to determine modifications to standard energy management system (EMS) software applications.  Designed and implemented modifications to standard EMS applications such as Automatic Generation Control, Interchange Scheduling, Generation Dispatching and Load Forecasting, and Production Costing.  Designed and wrote custom software applications such as a pumped-storage hydro unit control algorithm which automatically shut down a pumping unit (motor) and initiated startup of the unit in the generator mode when system load dictated.

Developed custom test procedures for applications using hardware and software simulators.  Designed and implemented changes to software simulator in order to test custom applications.  Responsible for the implementation of customer change order and error tickets.  Performed integration of EMS software modules with Dispatcher Training Simulator Software.  software developed using FORTRAN 77.

Intergraph Corporation

System Engineer (promoted to System Consultant, Technical Manager)

Designed and implemented Automated Mapping/Facilities Management (AM/FM) System software for utility customers which maintains graphical and database model of transmission and distribution networks.  Designed relational database structures to model electrical devices and their connectivity.  Designed and developed Work Order Management System and AM/FM system integration which allowed work order/estimating information to be automatically downloaded into AM/FM system.  Designed initial model for pad mounted switchgear within automated facility model.  Developed detailed design documents for  various facility models, including electrical models for Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G), Central Illinois Public Service and gas models for Connecticut Natural Gas, and Central Illinois Public Service.

Designed work order automation application for Carolina Power and Light (CP& L) which automatically places facilities with facility model using program triggers within the Work Order Management System.

Conducted design sessions with utility engineers to determine software requirements.
